A newly formed political group backing Gov. Mike DeWine’s re-election campaign has launched a six-figure ad campaign that will air on cable television in Ohio next week.

COLUMBUS, Ohio --

McCauley couldn’t immediately be reached for comment, and a message has been left with the group via an email address on the group’s website., a different dark-money group that paid for a six-figure ad campaign backing DeWine’s daughter’s unsuccessful run for Greene County prosecutor in 2020.according to its FEC reports

The rest of the group’s money came from an affiliated, anonymous organization called Protecting Ohio, Inc., a political nonprofit that the federal House Bill 6 bribery investigation and tax records showed received some of its funding from Akron-based FirstEnergy,There are at least two other pro-DeWine outside groups with unclear financial backing that have formed as he runs for re-election in the May Republican primary.
