The new FordMustang is looming large – debut planned for 14 September in Detroit 🐎
► Due to be revealed at the 2022 Detroit motor showThe seventh-generation Ford Mustang will make its first global appearance at the forthcoming motor show in Detroit.
Ford has revealed very little about the all-new model thus far, but it has put out a short video teaser that confirms that the Mustang will make its debut on 14 September.At first glance the teaser clip looks to confirm nothing more than there will be a new Mustang and the date on which it will appear. However, there are a couple of little extra details in there that will be welcome news to Ford fans.
First of these requires you to turn your speakers on – there is a short but welcome soundtrack to the little teaser clip that seems to come from something V8 shaped. Obviously that’s open to a degree of interpretation but it is certainly a sign that the Mustang is not going fully electric, not just yet anyway.
As to what the engine will be, we don’t know just yet. It could be an all-new unit, but it could well be that Ford has chosen to develop the existing 5.0-litre engine. Sadly big V8s don’t have the same future ahead of them, so it may not make financial sense to keep creating new ones for now, especially if existing versions can be tweaked to fit new models’ needs.
