January 5 Data: Utah adds 7,200 new cases, highest daily count to date, 44 new deathsThe Utah Department of Health reported that Utah has reached it's highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Over 7,247 new cases were reported since Tuesday with nearly 1000 of those cases belonging to school-aged children. The massive number of new infections boosted the state's rolling 7-day average to 4,317 cases per day. Alongside the high case counts, UDOH reported that 44 Utahns have died from the virus.
