The five suspects planned to rob a Fort Worth 18-year-old before he was shot to death.
At least three other people were inside Morin’s home, including Battles, when the suspects entered and the shooting occurred, according to the warrant.The four others rode together to the house in a vehicle driven by Keavion Douglas and entered the home wearing masks, the affidavit says.
Police believe Sanders was talking with Battles on the phone “to set up the robbery” as the group was en route, an officer wrote in the warrant One of the suspects told police “the plan was to run in the house and rob John because they knew where everything was located,” according to the warrant.Keavion Douglas told police his brother, Kelton Douglas, shot Morin during the robbery, saying “they were told John slept with a gun under his pillow and Kelton believed John was reaching for it,” an officer wrote.It was not clear in the affidavit if multiple weapons were fired, but police wrote that several fired cartridge casings were found.
The warrant says Battles left the house with “a black tote that contained marijuana” and two females before police arrived; and officers found a “bag containing a large quantity of marijuana” in the room where Morin’s body was found. It’s unclear if anything else was taken during the planned robbery.. His family said he loved football, swimming, and playing video games.
