Borough officials say transitioning from cooling to heating requires the help of an HVAC contractor, which contributed to the delay.
New Cumberland Borough officials said in a press release that they began working with a contractor in the middle of September with a goal date of Oct. 16 to transition the library building's system to heat. The HVAC system's glycol level needs to be adjusted each time it is manually switched from cooling to heating or vice versa, and the contractor was waiting on results from a test designed to measure the glycol concentration to make the switch.
The Board authorized the library to be closed until the matter is resolved, but Borough officials say per information from the contractor, the heat should be turned on sometime on Oct. 23. To that end, authorities expect the library to be open tomorrow.
