The new plan has received some criticism with consumer champion Which? saying it could put customers at risk
Anyone who falls victim to a scam could be charged as much as £250 to get their money because under new rules being considered by the payments regulator.
Which? has also published an article that claims the plans against legal protection for victims of bank transfer scams have taken a "major step back" after new proposals were shared and recommended that the plans for an excess be scrapped as it is "not justified by the evidence and risks disproportionately affecting lower-income groups.
