As a free kick was swung into the box, Hojlund appeared to haul Rodri to the ground. Referee Paul Tierney let play continue but was called to the monitor by Michael Oliver and then chose to overturn his on-field decision and give the spot kick.Neville thought the decision was a bit harsh on United. "I’ve looked at it four or five times and in slow motion, it looks like a no-brainer that it’s a penalty," the former captain told Sky Sports.
Erling Haaland dispatched the penalty to give City the advantage at half-time. In the studio, former Liverpool centre-back Carragher analysed the decision and he agreed that it was soft.
