“I don’t think that it’s going to get crazy again, but we’re still not out” of the pandemic, Wolff said during his final State of the County luncheon Wednesday with the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.The county judge, who took office in 2001, still has one more State of the County appearance with the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce in October. He’ll retire Dec. 31, ending 50 years of public service at age 82.
Bexar County commissioners could vote as early as next month on a package of health initiatives, including partial funding for a new partnership between UT Health and the University of Texas at San Antonio to develop a public health school, he said. That would be in addition to two other recently announced federally funded initiatives: a $50 million public health division of University Health, and a new county preventive health and environmental services department, funded at $10 million.
