Firefighters rushed to Wordsworth Road in Denton
Horrified residents have told of the moment a house “blew up” into flames before a door was broken down to rescue a dog inside.
Residents have said they believe nobody was inside at the time, but that a group of men were seen “kicking a door down” to rescue a dog that was heard barking inside the burning home. “A group of lads were trying to kick the door in, there was a dog barking inside. Eventually they got the door open and carried the dog out, then another woman turned up and took it away.
“As I went to bad, we heard this awfully loud noise. I looked through the window and saw all this smoke coming out of the roof, so I called 999,” she said“We were looking through our window for hours. It was smoking and then just blew up into flames. It definitely looked like it started in the attic. The fire brigade were trying to bash the door down for ages before they got inside”.
