Two Birmingham-area school districts have produced large numbers of of National Merit Scholars this year.

From the semifinalist group, over 15,000 met requirements for finalist standing and only 3,800 honorees were named nationwide in 2023.One thing to keep in mind: The program cautions against comparing high schools based on how many winners they have, and says it does not measure the quality or effectiveness of education within a school, system or state.Meleah M.
