"As a military officer, what I saw was more or less really f---ed up," a Washington, DC Guardsman who was deployed to Lafayette Square told Politico.
A Washington, DC Guardsman, who was deployed to Lafayette Square last week — where tear gas was used by US Park Police to disperse peaceful protesters so President Donald Trump could take a photo in front of a church near the White House — told Politico he felt used and that what he saw was a violation of civil rights.
"A lot of us are still struggling to process this, but in a lot of ways, I believe I saw civil rights being violated in order for a photo op," the Guardsman continued."As a military officer, what I saw was more or less really f---ed up," he told Politico. The Associated Press reported that"Tear-gas canisters could be heard exploding as Trump spoke in the Rose Garden."
