Naruto's first technique came from a classic manga
Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu, or Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, is one of the series' most well-known techniques, but it was actually inspired by another successful manga. Series creator Masashi Kishimoto has done several interviews over the years explaining his sources of inspiration and the challenges of working on the series. Notably, in an interview from 2009, the mangaka revealed where he got the idea for shadow clones.
Yu Yu Hakusho Inspired Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu In the book Naruto 10th Anniversary Chronicle Book Mini, there is an interview with both Kishimoto and Yoshihiro Togashi. Togashi is known as the creator of numerous hit series, most notably Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho. The two have great admiration for one another and it is no secret that Kishimoto has taken inspiration from Togashi's works.
His way of surprising the reader. The way he can create unexpected scenes that can show the threat that the enemies represent, the Kagebushin no Jutsu of Naruto is strongly inspired by Suzaku's technique in Yu Yu Hakusho. The idea of having after-images be real was very innovative, I was excited and though 'how will they beat this guy.'
