The fatal shooting was under investigation by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.

Officers and EMS tried to revive the man, who was not identified, but were unable to and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:11 p.m. The incident remained under investigation by the office, which handles all instances where a person dies during an interaction with a police officer.
