When Phillip broke things off, his ex refused to take no for an answer
A woman who was dumped after an eight-month romance drove into her ex-partner in the middle of the road. Phillip Ashton says he is lucky to be alive after his ex-girlfriend deliberately ran him down, leaving him clinging on to the bonnet of her Renault.
Smith began to hammer on the door, before damaging his new girlfriend's car. Phillip said: "That day, when I was up on the bonnet, I thought that's it, she's finally going to kill me. Every time I see a red Renault car it reminds me of her, and I'm always looking for the registration." Things came to an explosive end on March 27, when Kirsty showed up at Phillip's flat and attempted to force her way inside. She then deliberately drove her car into his new girlfriend's car before apparently driving away.
"I made it back to the flat, but she was in a car and I was on foot, so she made it back before me. There was some more back and forth through the doorway. She was going for my throat with her nails, kicking me, punching me over and over through the doorway. She was saying wasn't having me, nobody else was having me.
He said: "Even on the day where the police turned up, I didn't say anything or want to put a statement in because I didn't want her to get into trouble. It was only two days later, after speaking to friends and family, that they told me I had to say something."
