Leicestershire Police are treating the man's death as suspicious and a cordon is currently in place in the village
A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in a field on the Nottinghamshire border. Police say they made the discovery in Plungar, on the Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire border, on Tuesday, November 7.
In the early hours of this morning, a 56-year-old man from Grantham in Lincolnshire was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody. A police cordon will remain in place in the area today and officers from the Melton and Rutland Neighbourhood Policing Area will be carrying out reassurance patrols.
“I understand there will be some concern within the local community, and we are working to establish the circumstances that led to the man’s death. This includes officers speaking to people in the area and I’m asking for anyone who has information that they think could help to come forward.
