Oksana Zakharchuk has been forced to leave her home and is looking for safety in Scotland with her son.

A Ukrainian mum has told of how she is seeking refuge in Scotland with her son after being forced to leave her family home.

She said: "I desperately want to move to the UK. Honestly, to have somewhere to live in Scotland would mean the world but I have heard such great things about Edinburgh. After doing research, I am aware that the people are friendly, the city is really nice and there would hopefully be job opportunities for me as well.

Oksana said she barely gets to communicate with her husband and hopes they will be reunited soon. The mum works as a nurse and is a cosmetologist. She hopes that she will be able to find a job in nursing but is is happy to go into any line of work if it means her son is safe.
