Jacqueline Buckland has spoken of her heartbreak

The mum of a baby living with cystic fibrosis fears a miracle drug that could add decades onto his life will be taken off the NHS .

READ MORE: 'People call me selfish for not wanting children... but I don't want to sacrifice my holidays and lie-ins' Although a decision has not been made, it has left mum-of-two Jacqueline, who lives in the Heaton Mersey area of Stockport, terrified for the future. Currently, about half of people with cystic fibrosis will live past the age of 40. Children born with the condition more recently are likely to live longer than this.

“We didn’t know anything about it and we had a three-week-old baby, of course we Googled it. We saw a lot of scary information online saying most people with CF don’t live past 40. That was very difficult, “If it gets pulled from the NHS, what does that mean in terms of access? Would we be able to access it through a prescription, will we have to get private health insurance?”
