The Market Street store has opened for the first time today (Thursday, March 7)
A shop owner says she is feeling relieved to finally see her new venue open after her previous one went up in flames. Ellie Mortimer, 33 and from East Leake, Nottinghamshire, had her design studio in Keyworth destroyed by a fire caused by an electrical fault from an extension lead in November 2020.
The embroidered goods are all made to order in-house and customisable in the customer's choice of colours. In January 2019, she was contacted by a costume designer for Warner Bros Pictures for a costume worn by actress Margot Robbie in Hollywood film Birds of Prey.Ellie said: "I'm feeling excited, relieved, and positive about the future. I didn't realise, though, how expensive opening a shop is, but hopefully it'll pay off.
"This shop is like a permanent market and will give people an insight into how things are made because they'll be able to see the embroidery machines. It will be a nice experience."
