The deal follows the merger between Nikola and VectoIQ earlier this year, as well as EV start-up Fisker announcing that it expects to go public through a merger with Apollo Global Management-backed special purpose acquisition company Spartan Energy Acquisition. The deal represents two areas of particular investor interest this year: special purpose acquisition companies , as well as electric vehicle start-ups.
