BREAKING: Motorway closed for hours after crash - latest updates
The M56 has been closed to allow barrier repairs to take place, it has been announced.
The motorway is closed on the eastbound side from junction 3, for Princess Parkway and the M60, to junction 2, for Sharston and the A560. The closure was announced shortly before 10am on Easter Monday . Currently, traffic is light in the area.However, delays could build as National Highways believe the closure could be in place for 'three hours'. A tweet from the agency said: "NEW INCIDENT: M56 eastbound between J3 Princess Parkway A5103, M60, and J2 Shartson, A560.
"ROAD CLOSED for emergency barrier repairs following a collision. Expect road to be closed for at least the next 2-3 hours. Further info re: diversion route to follow."
