Patrick M. Dunn was driving a pickup truck in Elk Township on Nov. 1 when the vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by Amy Buchanan, authorities said.
A man accused of driving while intoxicated in a crash that killed a South Jersey woman was ordered released from jail pending trial.
He has remained in Salem County Correctional Facility awaiting a detention hearing, which occurred Monday morning. At the crash scene, a police officer detected a strong odor of alcohol from Dunn’s vehicle and reported that his speech was slurred and his eyes watery and bloodshot, Amira said.While speaking to the officer, Dunn made a “spontaneous statement that he had a couple of beers,” according to Amira.
Defense attorney Nancy Kennedy acknowledged the severity of the charges, but pointed to Dunn’s lack of a criminal record and strong ties to the community in arguing for his release.
