BART service stopped in Oakland after person is found on tracks
OAKLAND – A motorcyclist was killed Friday in Oakland after he crashed into a fence and landed on the BART tracks, where he was hit by a train, authorities said.Oakland police said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound when he lost control and hit a metal fence with enough force to create an opening; he then fell 25 feet onto the BART tracks below. The motorcyclist was hit by a train heading toward downtown.
Train service was temporarily stopped in all directions at the 19th Street station. As of 6:10 p.m., limited service was available in the Antioch and Richmond directions, according to BART.
