Terrell L. Savage was sentenced to 22 years in the 2018 shooting death of Maurice 'Reese' Lewis.
Lewis had completed his shift at a McDonald’s restaurant and picked up two friends when he stopped his vehicle at a stop sign at Dock and Broad streets in Millville around 11 p.m. on the day of the fatal shooting, the prosecution recounted Friday.
Savage admitted to police that he fired on the vehicle, but claimed he did so because he feared for his safety. Prosecutors noted multiple times during the hearing that the shooting was unprovoked.“My son came from the same streets you killed him on,” she told Savage. “He was never handed a silver spoon. He was exposed to drugs, crime and gangs … through it all he never became a statistic. He graduated top of his class.
“He was a genuine and loving human being with so much left to experience and give,” Thom said. “Having him taken from us at the age of 19 is not fair.”
