The condition of the mother and young child remained unclear after the crash Thursday.
The mother was hit by a vehicle around noon on Route 36 south, between Laurel and Palmer avenues in Hazlet, according to Deputy Police Chief Robert Mulligan.
“Both patients were quickly transported to Bayshore Hospital and their conditions are unknown at this time,” Mulligan said in a statement. Hazlet police along with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team were investigating, he said. Investigators did not immediately release more information. Mulligan asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Hazlet detectives at 732-264-1705.
