All of the Democratic candidates are backing the impeachment of President Trump—but Andrew Yang called on Democrats to stop being “obsessed” with it and focus on 'solving the problems that got Donald Trump elected in the first place' DemDebate
All of the candidates are backing impeachment as part of the House’s constitutional duty. Former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders say they see their role as “making the case” in the public. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is framing it as an argument against corruption. And Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and billionaire Tom Steyer are calling on top Trump aides such as acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney to testify publicly.
“If the president claims that he is so innocent, then why doesn’t he have all the president’s men testify,” said Ms. Klobuchar. “The court that counts here is the court of public opinion,” said Mr. Steyer, who noted that he started the Need to Impeach movement tears ago. But entrepreneur Andrew Yang called on Democrats to stop being “obsessed” with impeachment and focus on “solving the problems that got Donald Trump elected in the first place”—citing the loss of manufacturing jobs in the Midwest.
