'More and more businesses are throwing in the towel'

Zombie businesses have been limping along for many years, and the banks made a point of supporting firms through Covid in an attempt to right their wrongs from the financial crisis a decade before, but they are now withdrawing support. Companies are also facing HMRC arrears that are now being chased down, increasing energy bills, supply chain disruption, less supplier credit and Government-backed loans that need repaying. It’s a perfect storm that some businesses can no longer weather.
