UPDATE: Montgomery firefighters are investigating what started a 3-alarm fire at a church near downtown. montgomeryal alabamanewsnetwork
The fire happened late in the afternoon at Faith Full Gospel Baptist Church at 1931 Highland Avenue. It apparently started toward the rear of the three-story church. The fire was eventually upgraded to a 3-alarm, with ladder trucks being used to get the fire out.
From the WAKA 8 Tower Cam, it was easy to see large clouds of black and white smoke. Flames could be seen shooting up from the building.Stay with WAKA 8 for updates.
