Mistakes prove costly as UTSA falls short of milestone win against No. 24 Houston
UTSA coach Jeff Traylor returned to the locker room Saturday to find a group of players he described as “destroyed.”
When quarterback Frank Harris arrived at UTSA ahead of the 2017 season, a win against a top-25 team was a pipe dream. The Roadrunners were 0-5 in those contests to that point in the program’s history, losing by an average margin of nearly 25 points. Traylor said he felt UTSA “outplayed” Houston on Saturday, putting the burden on himself for the Roadrunners making “some critical mistakes at some critical times.”
“You can’t give Houston momentum,” Traylor said. “That mistake... I’ll never forgive myself in the rest of my coaching career.” Traylor stepped forward to claim responsibility for UTSA’s “busted” play, but Harris said the burden falls on him.
