Four principal donors — Merlis Belsher, Kerry Preete, Glen Hawker and Mike Babcock — helped launch the fund with an initial $1-million donation. As well, Preete, a former Huskie player and former Monsanto executive, has pledged to match donations up to another $500,000 going forward.
