John Fetterman projected to win Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race, defeating celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz to capture a GOP-held seat
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — In most places, the comfortable lead U.S. Sen. Mike Lee held as midnight approached in Utah would represent a political landslide. But in one of the most conservative states in the nation, it was the closest senatorial race in generations.
And so even as Evan McMullin conceded late Tuesday night, he told his supporters they had helped demonstrate the potential viability of strategy for future races in Utah and the rest of the nation. “We’ve come together in a historic way,” McMullin told a cross-partisan crowd of several hundred people at a newly built performing arts center in eastern Salt Lake County. “Our effort has shown the country there is another way forward. A much more constructive way forward.”
