Joe Biden has signed national security legislation giving billions in aid to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.Most of the $95bn aid package will go to Ukraine, but around $26bn will provide wartime assistance for Israel and humanitarian relief for the citizens of Gaza.Speaking from the White House after signing the bill, Mr Biden says: 'My commitment to Israel, I want to make clear again, is ironclad'.
Referencing Iran's thwarted strike on Israel ten days ago, he adds: 'The security of Israel is critical and we will make sure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself against Iran and the terrorists it supports.'Mr Biden says the bill also 'significantly increases humanitarian assistance we're sending to the people of Gaza who are suffering badly'.
