The number of layoffs was not revealed, but a filing with Washington state’s Employment Security Department said 276 workers in the Seattle area will lose their jobs.In January, Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella said about 10,000 jobs would be eliminated, less than 5% of its global workforce, as the tech giant looked to cut costs.

Microsoft shares have surged 38% year to date, compared to a 2.4% gain by the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA , which counts Microsoft as a component, and the S&P 500’s SPX 15% gain.
