The last few weeks of summer could see some dramatic weather
With autumn only a few weeks away, many Brits are hoping for another warm spell to sweep the country. Summer got off to a slow start this year with chilly temperatures and gloomy conditions.
A band of cloud and rain is sweeping the country today , with temperatures around average for the time of year, according to the Met Office. Southern and eastern areas will see the warmest weather in the next few days, with London enjoying highs of 26C on Friday, compared to 21C in Manchester and 19C in Edinburgh.Pleasant conditions are forecasted for the weekend and the beginning of next week, although rain is expected in some northern and western areas on Monday.
"By the weekend and the following week, a mobile westerly regime is likely, most of the wet weather in the north and west, and longer drier interludes in the southeast. Temperatures overall will be close to average, but the chance of short-lived very warm conditions in the south and east at times."
