The city, Dallas County and TxDOT are working on roadway, sidewalk, trail and underground construction projects around Mesquite.
The Mesquite Heritage Trail, which connects to a larger bikeway between Garland and Richardson, is undergoing construction toThese in-progress segments of the Mesquite Heritage Trail run along the south side of Towne Centre Drive from Interstate 635 to South Mesquite Creek; south along the west bank of South Mesquite Creek to U.S. 80, then under U.S. 80 to the trailhead just north of AMC Theater.Design for Phase 2 of the project is 90% complete and expected to wrap up later this year.
The city, county and Texas Department of Transportation are reviewing the trail’s crossing under U.S. 80. The crossing will be funded by Mesquite and constructed by TxDOT after the repairs to U.S. 80 are completed.: Phase 2 will wrap up in 2022. The entire trail is expected to be completed by 2024.
