Meghan Markle criticised the toxicity of social media and the abuse she received online while pregnant and a new mum.
Meghan Markle has spoken out against "hateful abuse" online in a powerful speech at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.
The festival description stated that Meghan's talk would focus on "how the ubiquitous nature of social media is creating an often dangerous environment which has led to serious mental health issues for teenage girls in particular". The event was titled Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen.
Meghan arrived on stage in a chic silk outfit composed of a slightly oversized, relaxed fit silk blouse tucked into a long, flowing skirt. When she was first introduced, Meghan exclaimed that she was "so excited" to be taking part, with the Duchess outlining a recent project she unveiled. The announcement also touched on how women's representation in media and entertainment "has come a long way, but there's still much to be done, especially for women of colour and mothers".
