“Since I’ve been on the board, we’ve passed two bonds," he said."These are providing money for land purchases and buildings. We’ve opened at least one new school every year that I’ve been involved, and we’ll continue to do so over the next decade." “Many people run for a school board ‘for the children,’” Welch said. “I believe this to be too simplistic. The administration is there for the children. That’s their job. A board is not necessary if that’s the only consideration. The board must make decisions for students, staff, parents, area business owners who pay taxes, as well as the taxpayer without a direct household connection to the ISD.
