The song wasn't even finished at the time, but what began as a funny TikTok play has now resulted in a full single and lyric video, out July 10. The message of simultaneous frustration and hope has clearly resonated — the clip has garnered more than 11 million views.
The three musicians have been releasing music as Avenue Beat since their self-titled debut in 2019. But they became friends in their hometown of Quincy, Illinois, and have been making music for years; Savana and Sam have been friends since early childhood, and Sami befriended them when they were 14. Together, the trio moved to Nashville, Tennessee after graduating high school.
“And thank god we found a community of people on TikTok where we could share this music and have it be accepted and welcomed and there’s no strings attached,” Sam says. “People just liked what we were doing.”from January, Sami said that she felt it "in [her] bones” that 2020 was going to be a good year. And now? “My bones were full of sh*t… statement retracted,” Sami laughs.
