Masters leader Scottie Scheffler is on the course, his five-stroke edge after 36 holes tying the Masters record held by five others. Here’s a quick look at how those five ended up.Forced to play the final 36 holes on Monday because of rain at the third-ever Masters, Cooper still led by three strokes after the third round but shot a final-round 76 and was edged by Horton Smith, who won his second Masters title.
Nicklaus’s huge lead disappeared entirely in the third round, as Tom Weiskopf shot a 66 to enter the final round with a one-stroke lead over the Golden Bear. Nicklaus still trailed after a bogey at the 14th hole, but a 40-foot birdie putt at 15 gave him the lead. Both Weiskopf and Johnny Miller missed makable birdie putts at the 18th to finish one stroke back of Nicklaus at the end.
