Developers hope to build a huge 35-storey block of student flats at the landmark warehouse
Huge new plans for the much-delayed redevelopment of the landmark Hotspur Press in Manchester city centre have been unveiled. Developers have released proposals to build a 35-storey block of student flats on the site of the derelict textile mill off Gloucester Street.
Now London-based Developer Manner has taken over the project and has launched a consultation on its plans, which if approved will see 550 student beds built. Manner has vowed to retain the historic facade and sign of the 19th Century Hotspur Press, with the tower being built behind it. "Equally, this proposal helps to meet the rising accommodation needs of students across the city. Manchester has one of the largest student populations in the UK and demand for well-managed, high-quality student accommodation far exceeds the available supply.
