Three people were killed and more than a dozen others injured when a monster “freak wave” struck a packed beach in South Africa’s coastal city of Durban Sunday.
“Unfortunately three people, including a teenager, were declared deceased at the scene,” Dlungele added. At least 17 people were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries sustained during the incident. The patients were said to be in serious or critical conditions. The huge wave pushed swimmers up against a pier at Durban’s North Beach and then dragged many out to sea.AP
