Two Massachusetts residents have contracted the mosquito-born West Nile virus in what is allegedly the state's first human cases of the year.
"This is the first time that West Nile virus infection has been identified in Massachusetts residents this year," said Public Health Commissioner Robert Goldstein, MD, PhD.

C. quinquefasciatus is known as one of the many arthropodal vectors responsible for spreading the arboviral encephalitis, West Nile virus to human beings through their bite.
