A spokesperson for Baker did not respond to multiple phone calls Thursday morning. The governor is scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony in East Boston at 10 a.m. where he will offer remarks.
Baker has faced questions about his next steps ever since he announced that he would not seek reelection, a move that opened the door for a multi-way Democratic primary for governor. Attorney General Maura Healey won that contest and later cruised to victory in the general election and is now the governor-elect.Emmert announced he would step down after 12 years of leading the NCAA through a tumultuous time.
