Currently in his sixth tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing and marking his 19th year as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver, Truex has finally decided to step away from racing—a decision that has crossed his mind over the last three years.
His resume includes a win at Phoenix Raceway in March 2022 and progressing to the eighth round in the 2022 postseason, not to mention leading all four Stewart-Haas Racing drivers in the current season's points standings—a significant rebound from a less than stellar 2023 season.Erik Jones, a former Joe Gibbs Racing driver now with Toyota Racing Development at Legacy Motor Club, could also be a likely candidate due to his previous experience with the team.
