The Spaniard's incredible outburst was the big top of discussion on talkSPORT
Former Celtic boss Martin O’Neill asked radio host Jim White if he wanted him to LEAVE their breakfast show after the pair were involved in a heated exchange over Mikel Arteta’s rant about Newcastle United’s winner against Arsenal on Sunday.
Arteta labelled it "embarrassing" and a “disgrace" and the Spaniard was backed up by a club statement 24 hours later. O’Neill was appearing on his regular slot as a guest on the show and said: “The goal should’ve been disallowed, it’s as simple as that. I'm totally with him. I'm absolutely with him. He's being interviewed immediately after the game. He has seen the incident back, it's taken four-and-a-half minutes to finally make a decision.
A war of words then ensued between White and O’Neill with the Scottish presenter butting in over the former Celtic manager and not allowing him to speak, which led the ex Hoops boss saying: “Okay, do you want me to leave?” The Celtic legend then said, without interruption this time: “I’m talking about Arteta. He has come in, and he has vocalised his viewpoint on the goal. Where he should probably have stayed with that, and Simon’s made the point, about going all around Europe and saying the refereeing standards are so much better. The next question, if I’m an interviewer, I might ask my next question of ‘what happened to Havertz?’, who might have been sent off the field.
