The rollout of smart meters has been a disaster, according to Martin Lewis, who has given his verdict on the devices and the government's plan to install them in every home
Money expert Martin Lewis has shared his thoughts on smart meters and he's not happy with how they are being put in homes and businesses. He thinks the project is costing too much money and is taking too long.
He also said that even if your smart meter doesn't work, it doesn't make things worse for you. But for the whole country, it's not been good. At first, people thought it would cost about £13.5 billion to put smart meters everywhere by 2019. Now, it will cost a lot more money and take more time to finish.
Mr Lewis also supports households making their own energy with solar panels. But, it can take a long time to get back the money spent on installing them.
