A judge determined that Ralph Manning Scott, who allegedly talked his way into Gavin Newsom’s home in Kentfield, is mentally incompetent to stand trial.
A Marin County judge correctly decided that a man who allegedly stalked Gavin Newsom and his family is mentally incompetent to stand trial, a state appeals court ruled.
Scott got inside the home by telling one of Newsom’s children he is a friend of the family and a son of President John Kennedy. The family obtained a restraining order, and the Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed stalking charges. Scott pleaded not guilty. All three determined that Scott was delusional and mentally incompetent, although one psychiatrist, in a second report, changed his mind on the competency question.
