Employee shot and killed at Evergreen Park Mariano’s in ‘domestic situation,’ police say
Evergreen Park police work a crime scene after an employee was shot and killed Thursday inside the Mariano’s store in the 2500 block of 95th Street in Evergreen Park.
Authorities arrived at the scene on the 2500 block of West 95th Street and “cautiously approached and entered immediately,” said Evergreen Park police Chief Michael Saunders. Police evacuated customers and “continued inward to attempt to locate an offender,” Saunders said.During the search, they located the 21-year-old victim, a Mariano’s employee, with multiple gunshot wounds in the back of the store.
Evergreen Park police said the shooting was a “domestic situation” and there is no active threat to the public. The area remains an active crime scene and they asked the public to avoid the site.
