To help you keep track of the pending criminal Trump trials, a recap of last week and a guide to what may happen next.
The public court docket was fairly quiet in Florida last week. We are waiting for Cannon to rule on the government’s request for a conflict-of-interest hearing for one of the defense lawyers.
The potential conflict: Stanley Woodward is representing Waltine Nauta, Trump’s personal aide who was also charged in the case. Woodward also previously represented a key witness in the case. Cannon is also considering a request from prosecutors who say the lawyer for Carlos De Oliveira — the Mar-a-Lago property manager and third co-defendant in the case — represents too many witnesses in the case and has a potential conflict of interest. The lawyer, John Irving, said in a filing last week that there’s no conflict and that a hearing is not needed.
