Maybe double check your car door’s locked A map has revealed England and Wales’ worst car theft hotspots. Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency data shows that thefts soared last year, with 130,521 motor vehicle robberies in England and Wales. This was up from the year before, with 89,390 reported in the year ending December 2022. This is a world away from what the DVLA wrote in a 2004 car theft report: ‘The risk of having your vehicle stolen is very low – about once every 77 years.
