The incident happened within a hotel on the Main Street of the town at around 2am on Sunday, October 15.
Officers say that the 44- year-old woman had been waiting at a taxi rank after visiting a bar when she met the male.
He is described as being in his 40s, around 5ft 10in tall, medium build with short light brown hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing dark jeans, dark shoes and a blue zipper top with white trim around collar. “The woman involved had been in a bar on Main Street during the evening of Saturday, 14 October, prior to making her way to a nearby taxi rank where she met the man. We would urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything of note in the area to get in touch. “If you can help please call 101, quoting reference 3310 of 15 October, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
